Crocheted Face Cloth & Mineral Soak Gift

Today I’ve got an easy gift to make for all those on your list that need a little pampering! This crocheted face cloth whips up fairly quickly while watching your favorite evening show {hello Netflix & YouTube!} The mineral soak is a little thing I’ve been doing for years & it’s so simple & cheap! This is also a great gift to hand out to teachers or those unexpected guests. : )

Crocheted Face Cloth

To make the face cloth, I grabbed some Knit Picks Comfy Sport in the color “Flamingo” from my stash. It’s 75% cotton & 25% acrylic & super soft!

This is a #2 or sport weight yarn & lends itself well to patterns with stitches you want to stand out. This face cloth is just one row of single crochet & one row of single crochet with puff stitches. Alternating the  puff stitches helped me get more puffs per row.

For the border, I went with a reverse single crochet or crab stitch. I really like the way the edge looks with this stitch. It’s a little fancier looking than a standard single crochet edging without getting fussy with picots or fans.

I added a loop at the end so it can be hung up to dry more easily.

The back is smoother, but just as pretty!

Mineral Soak

Here’s my secret mineral soak…Dr. Teal’s! It comes in so many wonderful “flavors” & it’s just wonderful smelling.

Fill up a small half pint mason jar…

Then tie on a bow & your done!

The top kind of looks like a cupcake!

These are wonderful little gifts to hand out & a bag of the Dr. Teal’s runs me about $4.84 at Wal-Mart. The yarn is about $4 a skein, but you can get 3 {I think!} out of one.

You could even find a pretty pouf or washcloth to use instead if you don’t want to crochet one!

Crochet Pattern

I’m listing the yarn I used for the pattern. You can use any cotton yarn for this, just know some are softer than others. If you use bigger weight of yarn, the cloth will be bigger. My finished cloth is about 4″ x 4″.

Supplies ~>

• Knit Picks Comfy Sport in Flamingo, #2 weight, 75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic ~> I used about 1/3 of the ball.
• E-4/3.5 mm crochet hook

Abbreviations ~>

• ch – chain
• sc – single crochet
• ps – puff stitch – yo, insert hook into stitch & pull up long loop {3 loops on hook}, yo, insert hook into stitch & pull up long loop 4 more times {11 loops on hook}, yo & pull loop through all 11 loops, ch 1 to close
• rsc – reverse single crochet or crab stitch

Pattern ~>

• Chain 20
• Row 1 ~ sc in 2nd ch from hook & across all chains {19 sc}
• Row 2 ~ chain 1, turn, sc in next 2 stitches, * ps in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches * repeat * to * 5 times, sc in last 2 stitches {5 ps, 14 sc}
• Row 3 ~ chain 1, turn, sc in each stitch across {19 sc}
• Row 4 ~ chain 1, turn, sc in next 4 stitches, * ps in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches * repeat * to * 5 times {5 ps, 14 sc}
• Row 5 ~ chain 1, turn, sc in each stitch across {19 sc}
• Repeat rows 2 thru 5, 3 times for a total of 17 rows. Do not fasten off.

Border ~>

Rsc across top stitches, 2 rsc in corners, & rsc down each side into each row. Once you reach the beginning corner, ch 10, sl st to beginning rsc & into beginning ch. Fasten off & weave in ends
