Labor Day Sewing & Crochet Post Rehash

It’s Labor Day & most people are out grilling burgers & celebrating the end of the summer.  What am I doing?  Well making of course!  I’ve got some great sewing projects coming up this month on the blog, but today I’m taking a “blog break”.  Today I’ll give you some links to past sewing/crochet posts you may have missed, links to great Labor Day deals, & a little info about what Labor Day is really about.  Hope y’all are enjoying your day & I’ll be back Wednesday with my regularly scheduled post!

What is Labor Day?

Most people look at Labor Day as an end of summer celebration these days.  It’s really all about celebrating the contributions working people make to the country.  You can check the Department of Labor for the history of Labor Day to learn a little more about what started the holiday.  I also found this article from the Smugglers Daughter an interesting read.  It’s about why home sewing is so important & how RTW {ready to wear} garments affect the people that make them.

Don’t miss out on Craftsy’s All-You-Can-Watch Day!  All day Labor Day watch classes for FREE!!  Great way to try before you buy!

Past Sewing Posts

Seat Belt Cover ~ A Tutorial ~ This was my very first sewing tutorial on the blog!  It makes a great gift & Christmas is right around the corner y’all!

Father’s Day Templates ~ This post has some great templates for a mini quilt!  I made two of them for students that were graduating.  There are no pictures of the mini quilts {pre-blog!} but these could be used for many things.  My scrapbook page was not so fabulous!  This post needs to be revised soon!

Mending Blue Jeans ~ The task no sewer wants to be asked to do is mending!  This is all about my battle mending my husbands work pants!

Multipurpose Dog Bed ~ I made this little dog bed for my crafting partner Lucky.  He still uses it a year later, although he really likes my thinking chair better now!

All About the Humble Button ~ A little button history & how to sew on a button.  I know some button lovers out there that may find this interesting! ; )

Easy Fleece, Flannel, & Lace Throw ~ This was a fun sew for me!  I love the contrast of the flannel & lace.  : )

Double Sided Twisted Cowl ~ I used flannel, knit, & sheer fabrics to create some fun cowls.  Great for gifts!

Making a Splash ~ I made this quilt for a family member’s new baby.  It was my own design & I love how it turned out!

You can check under my “Sewing” tab at the top for more sewing posts!

Crochet & Yarny Posts

There are only a few posts for crochet & yarny things.  I really need to work on this!

Triple Thread Headband ~ A free pattern I created to replicate my favorite headband.

Making Old Leggings into Yarn ~ I recycle all old knits into yarn so I can make something new!

Migrating Stitches Super Scarf ~ My version of the “super scarf” trend!

Framed Weaving ~ This one was just last month, but maybe you missed it!  Plus, it’s the last one under my “Crochet” tab.

Well, I certainly need more crochet & yarn art posts!  Crochet patterns take a little more time to work out than quilt patterns.  ; )

Future Sewing & Crochet Posts

I have big plans for some future fabric & fiber posts!  Here’s some things to look forward to:

  • I’m working on more crochet patterns & have plans to recreate a bear my Memaw Teadoddle made for me.  I’m hoping to work out a CAL eventually, but that takes awhile & I may need some testers in the future.
  • I really loved my framed weaving project & plan to explore weaving & rug making more.
  • There are so many quilt patterns swirling around in my head & I’m still planning on doing a QAL for my “Quilter’s Garden” pattern.  Look for that in spring 2018!
  • I’ve been doing more embroidery here lately & would like to do some patterns for that as well.
  • I’m working on making a page to house all the free patterns in one place.  Then they will be easier to find!
  • Of course the Merry Christmas Sew-Along is in full swing & my next ornament comes out just one week from today!

There’s so much happening the land of Teadoddles & I hope y’all stick around to see what’s coming next!  Have a great {& safe} weekend!

Pin it for later!
