Another month has gone by & it’s time for a Monthly Roundup!  This month has been crazy y’all!  With so much happening in all areas of my life, I’m surprised I have anything extra to show today.  Let’s see what I’ve been up to in September 2017….

Blog News

I think everything is sorted out with the newsletter, but if you notice something weird going on, please let me know.  You can leave a comment or send me an email by clicking on the “email” button in the side bar.

I’ve added a page with printable coloring pages drawn by me to the blog.  This page is password protected & you can gain access by subscribing to Teadoddles newsletter.  I send out a new password at the first of every month.  I hope to complete the coloring page for this month’s ornament this weekend.  My black marker ran out & I finally remembered to buy a new one!  : D

This is a reminder of my typical blog schedule for new readers.  I try to stick to this as much as possible, but life happens!

Life Events

This is a new little spot in the monthly roundup!  This is where I’ll share any big things happening in my regular life.  This month my son moved to Atlanta to start his journey at the Art Institute of Atlanta.  We just moved him in Wednesday!  It’s a wonderful school & perfect for his career choice which is game art design.  Here’s one of his drawings.  Isn’t it awesome?

It’s a big change for me & Wednesday was a long challenging day filled with quite a few tears.  I’m looking forward to the new chapter in my life & his, but I really miss him!  I feel a future post coming about life after the kids leave the nest.  ; )

Crafty News

The Merry Christmas Sew-Along is in full swing & I love seeing everyone’s makes in the Facebook group.  Be sure to sign up so you don’t miss all the fun!

Crafty People ~>

I know I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again – crafty people are the best!  I received this care package with a hand written note from my friend Monique of Farm House Quilts last week.

She sent it to help cheer me up while dealing with my son moving away.  It was such a wonderful surprise & I’m so grateful to have made such a wonderful friend!

Crochet ~>

My crochet mojo is in full swing as I anticipate the cooler weather that I just know is coming.  Hopefully soon because I’m melting here!  ; D

I continue to make progress on the Moorland afghan.  My goal is to finish it before the end of October!

The Holiday Stashdown CAL has started & I’m only one crochet project shy of being caught up!  I love this CAL because you get something different to crochet every week & they all use one skein or scraps.  My hat is a little big on me, but I don’t know why – I’ve got a big noggin’!

I do like the swirly color at the top…

This one was supposed to be a cowl with a flower at the front, but I run out of thread, so it’s a ear warmer now!

This one is my favorite so far!  It’s a little coin or ear bud pouch.  I’ve never done this stitch before & it gives it a knitted look.

I’m also in the process of making some fat yarn cowls or scarflaces.  This is one that’s almost complete ~>

I have a bin full of other colors & some that are even fatter!

I will be selling these either on Instagram or my Facebook page, hopefully starting next month, so keep a lookout!  : )

QAL’s ~>

I have not made any progress on any QAL’s this month because I was working on two other quilts, which you’ll see below this.  I did decide on a center fabric for the Down the Rabbit Hole from Sarah Fielke & I love it!

This is an Alison Glass print so it goes very well with my other Alison Glass fabric.  The center is 24″ square, so mostly the white will be visible with a few hints of the edge.  I can use the edges for some of the borders which I’m also loving.  : )

Here are a couple QAL’s that started recently, in case you need a new project!  ; D

Other Sewing…

As I said in the Life Events section, my son left for college on Wednesday.  I got to a certain point on his quilt & realized I didn’t have enough fabric to finish it!  So disappointing for me since there was no time to find more fabric.  Those little 2″ squares for the center panel nearly drove me crazy!

It did turn out better than expect after all the time it spent with the seam ripper.  : P  I’m just adding six inch borders to build it out.

It will be mailed to him in a care package once it’s finished.

I also finished a baby quilt order…

I decided to topstitch the binding in black thread & added satin stitching at the corners.

This is a pattern I designed & I’m working on getting that published somewhere.  I also have a version that leaves out the name panel & the whole top can be made with a 10″ layer cake.  I’ll be looking for testers when I get the pattern written up, so if you’re interested, just let me know!

Don’t forget to check out the Great Links section in the sidebar for links to great linky parties, QAL’s, & such!  It’s below the post if you’re reading this on a mobile phone.  Also, check out my Pinterest profile for more crafty inspiration!

Coming up in October…..

My birthday is in October, so I’m planning on something fun, but it’s a secret for now!  Some other things to look forward to next month ~>

  • Merry Moosemas! ~> Wendy Carley of Four Peaches Fabric sent me the “A Moose for Christmas” quilt kit to sew up for a blog post.  That will be happening in October & I’ll be showing you how I put it together & quilt it.  So if you’re thinking of getting a kit, you’ll also have a blog post with pictures to help put it together!  : )

  • Look for some spooky Halloween crafts this month!
  • I’m moving my office to my son’s room, so there will be more office & organization posts coming.

That’s all for this monthly roundup – hope y’all have a great weekend!

  1. Ooo thank you for the mystery QAL link ? not that I need more ?. Glad you’re finding pattern testers before releasing your pattern, it’s so frustrating when people don’t do this. I can help out if you need ?. Awesome photos, projects, prezzies, but some sad moments too, but I suppose that’s life, the ups and the downs xxx much love

    • You can never have too many QALs to follow! Haha! Thank you for offering to help test the pattern – you are the first on the list! 🙂
