Blog Update ~ Changes Coming!

Here lately life has been busy, busy, busy! I’m sure most of y’all can relate! I’ve been working behind the scenes to make some changes & update some things on the blog. I though I’d take some time to fill everyone in on the changes coming in case ya’ll wanted to know! : )

Schedule Changes

So, y’all may have noticed that I’ve missed a blog post here & there. Between school {I’m a teacher}, opening an Etsy shop, filming YouTube videos, side orders, & general life, some things have been slipping here on the blog. That’s why I’ve decided to move to just 2 blog posts a week. That’s making me a little nervous – gulp! I’d also like to post in the morning rather than the evening, but we’ll see how that goes. To do that I’d have to do posts in advanced, which rarely happens!

I feel like I can do better posts if I do less posts, if that makes any sense. Now, I don’t want anyone to think I’m going to quite blogging because I’m not. There will just be fewer posts & hopefully more quality posts. Without further hemming & hawing, here’s the new schedule {for now} ~>

Weekly Posts:

• Mondays ~> Sewing, quilting, & crochet posts – all things fiber related
  • 2nd Monday ~> QAL, SAL, CAL {One more month left in the Merry Christmas SAL!}
  • 3rd Tuesday {replaces Monday post & posts at 3 a.m. EST}~> Pinterest Challenge from My Pinterventures
• Fridays ~> DIY & life lived posts – fun DIY’s, organization tips, recipes, & general “life lived” posts

Y’all may have noticed I didn’t do a monthly roundup post for October & monthly roundups are no longer on the list. That’s because I’m not doing them anymore! Since I do a weekly YouTube podcast now, I feel that more than covers what I do doing the week between blog posts. Plus you get to see my smiling face – haha! : D

This is my latest podcast & unfortunately the first 7:30 minutes is out of sync! The sound doesn’t match the picture, but it straightens out after that time has elapsed. Still haven’t figured out how to fix it!

I’ve changed this to the Teadoddles Talks Podcast instead of dividing it up by crafty obsession. I’m trying to get to a point that I can do a regular tutorial video every week as well. There are some up, but I’ve missed a few weeks! I’m working on putting one up for tomorrow about doing the bobble stitch in crochet.

Social Media

Y’all, the whole point of social media is to be SOCIAL! I feel like I’ve really been missing the mark on that here lately, especially in my Facebook group, Teadoddles Makers. The whole point of starting that group was to connect to other makers. My plan is to try to do some fun maker challenges & possibly some Facebook live videos.

A Makeover

Something else I’ve been wanting to do is give my website a makeover! I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s something that takes a little bit to do. My plan is to get that done before the end of the year.

I want to have a better way to organize my posts so it’s easier to find what you’re looking for. When y’all visit, I want you to enjoy your experience. A blog isn’t much but a web address without it’s followers!

Another thing I want to work on is making my newsletter more of a conversation with my readers. This may mean some changes to how y’all subscribe, but I’ve got to see how that will work. I don’t want to rock the boat too much!

Currently, I offer a password to a free coloring sheet page to all subscribers. I’d like to add to that because I don’t always have time to draw up something new. As a matter of fact, it’s been awhile since I added anything new! I’m toying with the idea of adding subscriber only patterns and/or printables to that section.

What do y’all think? I’m always open to suggestions! : )

Future Plans

I’ve got some great ideas & plans for 2019! I’m excited about the upcoming year & all the possibilities!

First, I want to host a finish-along here on the blog & in my Facebook group. This would be open to makers of all sorts, no matter what craft gets your creative juices flowing! It would be something to encourage everyone to make more. I’m still sorting out the details, but let me know if your interested!

I’m also thinking about starting a bag of the month or stitch marker/charm of the month club. More research is needed for this, but I’d love to know if y’all are interested in that sort of thing! I know I love a good “something” of the month club!

All in all I’m looking to connect more with my readers & followers this year. Y’all are the ones that keep me going & provide so much inspiration. I hope y’all will like the new changes coming! : )
