Blog News

I’ve been making some changes, tweaking things, & still trying to work out a logo. There are bigger plans in the works {in my brain}, so I’m excited for some new things! One new thing this month is that I’ll be doing a Facebook live video on my Facebook Page at about the same time this post goes live. Ahhh!  I felt that I could shorten these posts a little by talking about some stuff live. I will still do the written version, but the live video will be more like a little extra bonus. You can ask me some questions if you like & get a real time response. Anyway, this will be happening at 7 p.m. EST today. Hope to see y’all there!

UPDATE: Facebook Live replay at the bottom of the post!

I’d like to welcome all new subscribers – I’m glad to have you here! In case you didn’t know, there’s a page with free adult coloring printables available only to subscribers. You should have received a password with your welcome email for this month. A new password goes out on the first of the month. Here are some drawings I have in the works.  I’ve been following the prompts for #tinkersketch on Instagram to help drum up new drawing ideas. I will be inking in the ones that I like & uploading them to the coloring sheet page by Thursday night.

Life Events

This month has been full of just – stuff! I don’t know how else to put that, but I’m sure everyone’s got “stuff” in their lives too, Ha! My {step} daughter graduated high school this month, just one year behind my son. I always put the {step} in brackets because I think of her as my own, not really a step child. Needless to say lots of tissues were needed! She is staying local for now, so no big move, like my son.

My son found out his school will not longer be offering school sponsored housing after this year. Just great! Now we have to figure all that out, but we do have until December. He also found a new job making more money, so he’s very happy about that.

I finally replaced my old iron with this one…

I found the note on the inside amusing! This seems to be pretty good so far for the price & you can find one here or here.

Crafty News

Okay, I keep saying a QAL is coming in June – buuut – Monique & I decided to start this year’s Merry Christmas SAL in July instead of August. Aren’t ya’ll so excited about that?? We will have more details coming soon, so be sure to join the Facebook Group & sign up for our newsletters to stay in the loop. You can find links to everything on the Merry Christmas SAL page.

I continue to work on my #100dayproject on Instagram. This is my progress so far:

I have not been posting as regular as last year, but I will continue until I’m finished – even if it takes more than 100 days! Look for posts under #100daysofteadoddles.

Crochet ~>

I’ve been doing a wee bit of crochet this month! I’m determined to clean up my UFO pile, but something new has snuck in. First, my almost finished pair of lacy socks:

So close! These are from a CAL circa 2016. Bleh!

I started this circular afghan for my Pinterest Challenge post this month. This is what I have so far – just need one more little circle!

I discovered Jimmy Beans Wool from watching YouTube & also discovered they have a new Jimmy Beans Crochet Project Club! It’s only $15 a month & sounds like loads of fun. I cannot wait to see the first shipment!

Here’s a couple things on my Etsy wish list that are crochet related. I really need this Octopus XXL crochet pattern because I think it would be fun to wear as a scarf. What do y’all think? : D I’m also digging this Giant Crochet Hook! It would make a great decoration for my craft room!

Nesting Box Mystery Quilting Box

Quilting

I had two baskets of smaller WIPs that I made great progress on this week. Some are in this section & some are in the sewing section.

I started these doll quilts for the Spread the Love event Needle & Foot hosted back in February. Y’all, I got all but two finished & they sat waiting for months! I finally finished them, washed them, & they will be mailed out this week. These thinks are still needed, so just check the link for more info

I also finished this little doll quilt for little miss Mary Kate. The blocks are from the Quilting Life BOM from 2017. The backing is a lighter weight jersey & I think it turned out nicely!

I have several blocks from the Starry Bright Sky QAL sewn, but for some reason I forgot to photograph the latest one! The top two are from the side QAL of textured blocks. The bottom photos are a mini quilt I had cut out, so I sewed it up. I think I’ll add it to the mix!

I’ve got about 1/3 of the Postcards from Sweden QAL from mmm! quilts! sewn up & I’m loving it with prints mixed in!

The 100 Days 100 Blocks Tula Pink QAL is coming up in July & I’ve been slowly collecting for this since the beginning of the year. The two on the right are new additions & on the left is my whole collection.

I have 32 fat quarters & will be adding other fabrics from my stash to make this quilt.

If you need some more patterns to collect {ha!}, check out my Sewing ~ Quilts & Crafts ~ QAL’s & CAL’s & all my other sewing boards on Pinterest.

Fabric Goodies

Wendy from Four Peaches Fabric is closing up shop & I snagged some of her deeply discounted fabric & a pattern.

I found some more Tim Holtz fabrics on 60% clearance in Joann’s & snagged a yard of each!

I also used my 50% off all thread coupon to get more thread for my serger…

Oh my gnome!! I absolutely must have this fat quarter bundle when it comes out in July!!! The sunflower print will also be in canvas & the mushroom prints will be in rayon. I feel a mushroom tunic coming on!! : D

Sewing

Several things in my basket just needed Velcro, like this sporty fanny pack from two years ago…

I need more Velcro before I can finish, but I need to find it in bulk! This little hedgehog pincushion & tape measure cover have been cut out for years. Now they are finally finished!

This could be in the quilting section, but it will be a pillow eventually. All the pieces are finally stitched down & quilting has started. This is the Lovely Liberty Cushion pattern I got in my Handmade with Love Bundle.

I used some Tilda fabric sent to me by some of my Australian pen pals. : )

DIYing

While this relates mostly to sewing, I think it could be used for other crafts as well. I saw this Terial Magic on YouTube & decided to try it out. I’ll let you know how that goes!

Earlier this month I purchased this glass-less window frame…

I have big plans coming up for it that involve weaving & embroidery. Stay tuned!

I haven’t been able to work on many DIY’s because it’s rained everyday for about the last 3 weeks! I’m hoping it lets up soon & I can fix the rusty shelf I showed y’all last month

I think that’s it for this monthly roundup! Be sure to check out my Facebook Live below for more about what you saw in this post – in case you didn’t get enough!  ; p
