Christmas in July

This past Friday I stopped by to get a better look at Southern Belle’s Gifts & Thrifts, a new shop here in town. I usually share these kinds of posts on Fridays, but this place was a thrifters dream! I think it fits in perfectly for a Wednesday post & hopefully all the other DIYers out there will agree. : )

Southern Belle’s Gifts & Thrifts

Owned & operated by Annette Bailey, Southern Belle’s Gifts & Thrifts is tucked into an older building on 7th street down town. I discovered it when I needed to drop off some clothing donations for a teacher. After my brief visit, I immediately knew I needed to come back & do an interview.

I sat down with Annette at a thrifted table in the front to have a chat. We discovered we both have a love for thrifty finds & color!

One of the first things you’ll notice is all the colorful paintings on the wall behind the counter.

Annette had a business doing vinyl monograms on T-shirts & such and a love for buying out estate sales. It didn’t take long to realize she was running out of space in her store font, so she decided to open it up the space more & offer booths for rent. Let me tell you, this is a thrifter’s wonderland!

When you go in, your greeted by some great thrifty finds & a desk with a pass through. You can kind of see into one room in the back & one on the right. There are many treasures to find once you turn the corner, but let’s start at the beginning!

Look at all those awesome frames! That mason jar chandelier was catching my eye & it’s on sale for just $38! I may need to see if it will fit in my crafting room…

When you turn the corner to the right, you pass through a room filled with fun little things in every nook & cranny…

I’m digging the pig sign & check out that green drawer on the bottom shelf…

This chicken wire lamp is pretty cool…

This room leads to a decision – right or left?

To the Right…

One thing I love about this shop is that all the rooms/booths are painted different colors & have their own personality. This one has flamingos & flags…

Loving the wall color in this room & those pendant lamps!

This room feels so cozy with all the baskets hanging from the ceiling. What’s that over in the corner….

It’s a chenille coverlet that looks like the one I used to see on my grandma’s bed. If that’s still there when I go back, I’m gonna have to take a closer look – it’s only $10!

My thrifty senses were already on overload, but I still needed to check out the rooms to the left!

To the Left…

Check out this DIY side table, cabinet thing. I don’t know what to call it exactly, but it’s awesome!

This are was kind of giving me a south west vibe. Maybe it’s that quilty looking framed art in the center. There was also a really neat wall desk off to the right that I missed until Annette showed me later on. It’s spoken for already – boo!

Towards the back of the shop, I found these beauties! The Singer was only $20, but I don’t know if it works. Still an awesome thing to see!

There were also several old sewing machine drawers…

And this side table made with a sewing machine base…

Someone Annette knows had an aunt or grandmother that used to work at a Singer plant.

There were also some really fabulous knobs on boards in this booth.

Do you think they would be upset if I bought them just to use the knobs for something else? : D

Last But Not Least…

At the very back was this nifty booth…

More fabulous frames, an old door with a glass knob, & some great old strainers!

This little pie safe style cabinet is wonderful and of course, I love the color!

This will be coming home with me next time I visit. It’s a crocheted apron & it’s stunning!

Of course, there was also this bin of 50 cent yarn trying to tempt me.  We’ll see what happens when I return!

Y’all, I just loved plundering around in this store! So much stuff to see & I’m sure it will be different every time I visit. Annette says all of her booths are full at the moment, but she has plans to partition off another back room. I let her know I would definitely be interested in renting one. That way, I have a legitimate reason to go plunder around in the store! ; )

Here’s a list of the businesses in the booths:

  • Tink
  • Two Sisters
  • The Pink Room
  • Rustique
  • Terri Smith Designs
  • Tommy’s Treasures
  • James and Joy West
  • Cherry’s Corner
  • Welcome Y’all
  • Fill my Cup Lord
  • French’s Flips’n’Finds
  • Katie Smith
  • The Halls
  • Gloria Alexander

If you’re in the area or visiting, please stop by & take a peak. Don’t forget, they also do vinyl T-shirts, blankets, & banners. Have a wonderful Wednesday y’all!

Pin it for later!
