Last Friday my mother & I took a painting class at the Artsy Fartsy Experience. We had so much fun! I want to share more about our experience & more about this fun new business in our community. This is such an amazing place to go & they offer way more than painting!

Artsy Fartsy Experience

This little place is tucked in a small shopping center on South Pecan Street in Cordele, GA. It’s hard to miss it with the colorful painted windows! The owner is Christina Atkins & you can read more about how she came up with the business on the website. Just note that the website is still “in the works”, but you can find out more about upcoming events on their Facebook page. : )

These pictures were taken about a month before my painting experience. They are currently rearranging things to make room for splatter painting, which sounds like a lot of fun!

Inside the store you’ll find areas for different activities.

Everything is painted in fun colors which really helps inspire creativity!

The day I took these pictures, they were getting ready for a “tutus & tea” event for the kids. One of our local high school teachers was going to teach the kids how to make tulle tutus!

There are paintings hung all around the space & of course plenty of paint supplies!

They have pottery lessons too! I can’t wait to give this a try!

Every time I walk into this place, I just smile. It’s such a welcoming space to create in.

When you finish your works of art, you can take a picture with them in the photo booth.

Artsy Fartsy Experience is always offering fun things to do for adults & kids. They are even offering yoga classes now! Be sure to check out their Facebook page to see what they are up to next!

My Painting Experience

Now, let’s talk about my Artsy Fartsy Experience! Our teacher was Eric Norris, an eternal art student that wants to be an art teacher. He was a little nervous since 4 of his students were teachers themselves, but I think he did a wonderful job!

The painting on the left is his original done in oil paints. On the right is the one he did with us in class in acrylics, which is what we used too. Here’s another painting by Eric that was drying…

He’s very talented!

When we arrived, the paint stations were all set up, waiting for some fun “arting”!

The most surprising thing for me was that we painted the yellow dots first! It became clear later on why this was the best way to do it.

We painted the night sky next…

Then some highlights & a mason jar…

The final touch was some grass at the bottom!

Here’s my mother’s painting, which I think turned out very nice. She kept asking where here “undo” button was! That’s because she’s an electrical designer & uses a computer to do her “drawing”.  : D

We took our picture in the photo booth at the end of the evening. It’s neat to see our different interpretations of the original painting.

There were 3 other ladies besides my mom & me in the class & I really enjoyed their company! Christina, the owner, sat down & painted with us as well. I’m looking forward to trying out some of the other classes they offer. I’ve even talked to Christina about teaching a crochet class. No specifics yet, but I’m really excited about it!

Happy Friday y’all!
