National Quilting Day

This is the 27th anniversary of National Quilting Day, started in 1992 by the National Quilting Association {which dissolved in 2015 🙁 }. It’s now coordinated by the Quilt Alliance & you can check their website for fun things going on, free patterns, & much more. Use #nationalquiltingday to show everyone your quilty fun on social media!

If you live in the vicinity of the International Quilt Study Center & Museum in Lincoln, Nebraska, you should check out all the fun quilting activities they are having to celebrate the day. So jealous! : D

Quilting Supplies

The main part of quilting involves fabric {yay!}, but there are some other “essentials” that come along with the quilting. Here are some fun places I like to shop when looking for quilting essentials.

Four Peaches Fabric

This shop has these fun fabric collections called Peach Blossoms. They are “Handpicked collections fresh for you!”, as Wendy puts it. I just ordered the Dreaming of Spring collection & a yard of this Electreecity Jungle Ave print from AGF. I’ve been eyeing it for a while because I just love the print & colors! Etsy

A fantastic place to find fabric & other supplies, both new & OOP {out of print}. Most of the fabric shops on Etsy sell fat quarter cuts, so you can mix & match what you want. It’s been my go to source for collecting Tula Pink fabrics! I probably spend way too much time browsing the fabric shops, but I always find fun things like:

This fat 16th bundle of word prints from Sew Me a Song. Who doesn’t like wordy fabric??
Or this Enchanted Forest half yard bundle from Moona Fabrics. Hedgehogs, bunnies, & mushrooms y’all!

And these cool quilt ruler racks!! Not fabric, but still cool!

Fat Quarter Shop

You can find everything from yardage to mini charm precuts – which I love! It’s the perfect way to get bites of new fabric collections & see if you want a larger cut. I even signed up for the Moda Mini Charm Pack Club recently because you get 4 mini charm packs a month. I intend on making a quilt block with each pack until I have enough for a full size quilt -no cutting required! They also carry Aurifil thread and seem to have the biggest selection of it that I have found.

Craftsy

A great place to go for quilting classes & other supplies. They came out with their own fabric collection, Boundless, not too long ago & now have their own line of thread as well. I did enjoy working with the fabric, but I have yet to try the thread.

I know there is a plethora of quilt shops out there & this is just a tiny, tiny portion. These are just the ones I tend to frequent online because there are NO quilt shops within 100 miles of me – boo! If you know of a great place to buy quilty goodies, please share in the comments below! : )
