This project has been on my mind for some time. I have a bowl for fruit on my table, but I wanted at least one more level to keep the bananas separate. The only thing holding me back was what to use for the center to hold up the upper tray. Then I realized I had what I needed all along – image that! This multipurpose DIY tiered tray was very easy to put together & looks great on my dining room table. Let’s see how it all came together…

This and That

I knew I would be using my current fruit bowl for the base. There were a couple of rusty cake pans in my DIY stash & I grabbed one to use for the second tier.

The bowl I’m using is a Core bamboo flower bowl with a yellow tint on the outside. I’ve had it for years & it’s held up very well!

For the center stand I’m using an empty pasta jar. You’ll see why soon! : D

The first thing I needed to do was remove the label & this Goo Gone is my favorite thing to use for that.

I’ll typically remove as much of the label as possible, then spray the rest down & let it soak for a few hours. It will rub right off after that!

Put it Together

Although I’m a fan of rusty things, I decided to paint the cake pan with Rust-Oleum spray paint in Oil Rubbed Bronze. Now I’m ready to assemble!

I glued the lid to the bottom of the pan & the jar to the inside of the bowl using my favorite e6000 glue.

I wanted to be sure everything made good contact & made a strong bong. For “weights” I used my drawing board on the jar…

And a broken coffee cup on the lid.

I let all of this sit for about 24 hours to be sure everything was set up. You should be able to pick up the jar without fear of the bowl falling off!

Fill Er’ Up

Here’s my tray, all ready to use!

My bananas can rest on top, away from the other fruits…

And I can fill the jar with things like dried peppers if I want to because the top tray is detachable! : D

Or, I can remove the tray & fill the jar with flowers!

This was so easy to do & I can’t wait to use my new multipurpose DIY tiered try throughout the seasons. So many possibilities!

Pin it for later!
