I’ve been doing some crafty shopping lately, taking advantage of all the sales going on. Next year I plan on working directly from my crafting stash – fabric, yarn, paper, etc. for all projects. I decided I’d better stock up before then! Today I’m going to share some of my finds & tell you about some deals happening. I’m planning on doing a series of posts next year about my crafty stash down, so stay tuned if that is something you’re interested in!

Crafty Stash Overflow

Y’all, I have a LOT of craft supplies! Mostly in the form of yarn & fabric because those are my favorite to make with. I hosted a Maker Finish-Along this year here on the blog & in my Facebook group. We have one more month to go, but I feel that I’ve failed my own challenge!

The whole purpose of the challenge was to help finish all those unfinished projects hiding out in my craft room. It started out well with me going through my yarn stash & cataloging it in an Excel file. I declared I would cut my some 70,000 yards of yarn in half by the end of 2019. Well, I multiplied instead of dividing & now have well over 140,000 yards of yarn. There are things I have yet to put on the list, which is scary!

A yarn stash hidey hole!

Needless to say, my fabric has multiplied when I wasn’t looking as well. Of course some of it is because I started a bag making business at the end of last year. That’s really kept me on my toes & made it harder to reign in those UFO’s I so wanted to work through this year.

In 2020 I want to spend more time making & less time consuming. I know it’s a bit early for some to be thinking about what their goals are in the next year, but I’m trying to get out ahead of the “New Year’s resolutions that only last a month” kind of thing. I have lots of big plans for next year & I want to set myself up to succeed!

Crafty Stock-up

Now, if you saw my craft room you would probably think that a stock up was really not necessary. There’s also overflow in my son’s old room, but that’s beside the point, in my opinion, ha ha!

My purpose for the stock up is to try to prevent me needing something to finish a project. It will be way too tempting to add something else to the real or virtual cart if I need to do that. I know I won’t be able to prevent it completely & there will be things that I might run out of that need to be replaced.

Since it’s that time of the year for crafty deals, I’m going to share some I’ve already found & some that are currently happening. This will be divided by the places I found the deals. Some are affiliates & some are not, but they are all places I frequently peruse for crafty deals.

Fat Quarter Shop

The Fat Quarter Shop is a great place to look for quilting supplies. I look at their Flash Sale nearly every day, which is where I picked up the Hallo-Harvest Layer cake below. The layer cake is no longer available, but you can find other items from the fabric line here.

Halo-Harvest layer cake & Halloweeny fat quarter bundle

The bundle on the right is from the Happy Halloweeny line by Cori Dantini. I picked that one up in one of their Precuts of the Week sales. I’ve always wanted to make a Halloween quilt, so that’s why I picked these up!

In October I pre-ordered the Spooky box & I liked it so much I decided to pre-order the Jolly box when it came out.

2019 Jolly Box

I was very glad I did because by the end of the first day it was available it was sold out! The fat quarter bundle is from the We Whisk You a Merry Christmas line by Kimberbell Studios. I was delighted to see this as I had already ordered a fat quarter bundle of the prints off of Etsy as well as the quilt pattern booklet off of Amazon.

Check out my haul video if you want to see more about these items from the Fat Quarter Shop.

Etsy

You may only think of Etsy as a place to buy handmade things. It’s also a great place to buy things to make with. I consistently find deals on crafty things & I love supporting small businesses. Many of theses shops have sales & even clearance sections. Plus, they have great customer service!

This pile of fabrics came from Brew Stitched, save from the white Crescent print. There is a great selection of fabrics in this shop & a wonderful clearance section of remnants & such. I stocked up on some low volume prints & a few fun prints for future projects.

When I purchased these fabrics from Darlene’s Fabric Shop, there was a 25% off sale that I could not resist! This haul includes several fun panels & prints I will use to make bags in the shop. I also picked up a few more low volume prints that are great for linings.

I’ve put in orders with Creative Addiction Co & Waxhaw Market for some jewelry findings & stickers as well. I like to look around for things like that & try out different shops.

Michaels

There was an awesome yarn sale going on at Michaels last week! I wound up putting in two orders. The first was for this Charisma Tweed Stripe Yarn which I fell in love with. It was on sale for $2.99 a skein, but the minimum order was 3 skeins. That’s something I don’t enjoy about shopping online with some of the main stream craft stores. Joanns has a 2 yard minimum on most of the fabric sold online.

I love this yarn even more in person & now I really want all the other color ways. I’m hoping they have it on sale again soon! The second order was more Loops & Thread yarn, which is a Michaels brand, and some Caron Latte Cakes.

The sale was still going on & they had added a coupon for an extra 20% off your order. These are yarns I’ve never used before & they will be great for doing reviews on my YouTube channel.

Dollar Tree

If you’ve ever needed large quantities of something from Dollar Tree, try looking at their website. You can have it shipped to your local store for free, which is a great deal since standard shipping is about $10 & up. They currently have $4.95 flat rate shipping available through 11/16/2019. I like this option because I don’t have to go to town!

My latest order was a case of these tiny wooden crates to use for a future project on the blog.

While most of the items are sold by the case, some have the option to order them in smaller quantities. I also ordered some wreath forms for future products & I was able to order just 4 instead of a case. And for all you yarnists out there, they still have $1 yarn available!

Fabric Mart

Fabric Mart is my go to place to find awesome deals on home interior & apparel fabrics. Occasionally I have found quilting cotton on the site as well. This haul came during a sale they had over Halloween.

The entire site was 65% off & they had $4.95 flat rate shipping. Their standard shipping is $9.95. I have frequently received coupons for free shipping on orders over $75 if you fill a cart and leave it behind. Just a little tip for all you fabric lovers out there!

Lion Brand Yarn

Lion Brand Yarn has really gotten a hold of my yarny purse strings here lately! I think this order is from last month when they had a 45% off coupon going. The Go For Faux & Heartland is a kit I ordered & the Mambo yarn is for a project I want to try out.

I have two more orders coming from Lion Brand. They had another 5 for $10 deal going on some yarns that I couldn’t resist. Now they have another 45% off coupon going, so I decided to order some more yarns I want to review for my YouTube channel. The coupon code is NOV45 & it’s for all yarn & kits.

More Crafty Deals

There are some things I’ve ordered that have yet to arrive & some deals yet to be seen. Here’s a list of other crafty places y’all might want to check out!

  • Herschners ~> I usually only order from them when they have free shipping offers. That’s because their standard shipping is based upon how much you spend & it can be pricey. Sign up for emails to get the codes as they don’t usually share them on the site. I also signed up for their Black Friday deals email which is scheduled to start in about 9 days.
  • Bluprint ~> They have started releasing Black Friday deals weekly & through 11/24 you can earn bucks to spend during the sales. I recently ordered the Sprightly Super Bulky yarn in every color because it’s currently $1.12 per skein. I love this yarn y’all! There’s a coupon for an extra 20% off your order right now, including door busters & sale items. The code is EXTRA20.
  • Joann ~> Today through Sunday they are having a “Beat the Rush Black Friday Doorbusters” sale. Some things can only be purchased in store, but there’s plenty online as well. I’m eyeing the 60% fleece & 65% of minky fabrics. The only thing is the minimum order is 2 yards – bleh!

Okay y’all, was that enough stocking up news? At this rate I may need to look for a small she-shed before I start my crafty stash down! I hope y’all have a great weekend & look out for some more haul videos on my YouTube channel if you want a closer look. : )
