Did y’all miss me Monday? I guess I had a total brain fart & forgot it was a blog day! Crazy, right? Then I was going to post on Tuesday, but the internet was out. Wednesday & Thursday were full days of teaching for me, so I just decided to wait until Friday to post. I also decided to do a round up of the top ten posts of 2018 to see what y’all were liking. I’ll also look at some posts that need to be revised for 2019 & what’s coming up on the blog. Just a little time warp post for the past, present, & future! : D

Top Ten Posts of 2018

Analytics are something that can be fun to look at from time to time. It helps give me insight into what’s popular & what may need to change. I was happy to see some of the things on the list because they were some of my favorites too! These are not all posts from 2018, they are the ones that had the most views in 2018.

#10 ~ Ham & Pepper Jack Sliders

This post from 2017 was all about a recipe my son wanted to try out. We didn’t have some of the ingredients, so we went with what we did have. It turned out pretty good & it’s a very simple recipe to put together.

The thing I enjoyed most about this post was working in the kitchen with my son!

#9 ~ Fat Quarter Cubes QAL with Fat Quarter Shop

The Fat Quarter Shop is one of my affiliates on the blog & I finally made it in time to sign up for one of their quilt alongs this year. This one was for my husband, so I chose a Tim Holtz bundle & mixed it with a linen in a denim color.

He loves it & uses it everyday! : )

#8 ~ DIY Supplies & Small Storage Solutions

I like to do organization posts, especially for my craft space. It’s ever evolving, so sometimes I have to find new solutions. This post was about just that!

I’m hosting a Finish-Along this year in my Facebook group, Teadoddles Makers. Our challenge for the month of January is to clean up our maker spaces. If you need encouragement to do that, you should join in!

#7 ~ Merry Christmas Sew-Along ~ Snowflake Frills

I was excited to see posts for this year’s Merry Christmas Sew-Along in the top ten list! The first one on the list was the Snowflake Frills pattern. This was one of my favorites too!

It was the first embroidery pattern I’ve ever designed & I really enjoyed it. : )

#6 ~ How to Fix a Low Neckline with a Pleat

This is another post from 2017, but it seems to be really popular still! You can use this for tops with sleeves as well. I also did one about how to take up the extra in the shoulder seams if you’re interested!

I’m planning on doing more of these type posts this year. Making small adjustment to ready to wear clothes can make a big difference!

#5 ~ How to Add Fabric Letters to a Fleece Blanket

I noticed this post seemed to pick up more viewers as it got closer to Christmas. This is a very easy way to customize a blanket kit or pre-made blanket for a gift.

I didn’t even think about adding a name to the blanket kit I made up for a Christmas gift. Since I made it on Christmas Eve, I think I’ll give myself a pass on that one! ; )

#4 ~ DIY Rope Basket ~ Pinterest Challenge

This basket was so much fun & super easy to make! I only made one more small one when I was experimenting with dying the rope. I’m hoping to make more of these this year & possibly put some in my Etsy shop.

The baskets are great for storing all kinds of things!

#3 ~ Merry Christmas Sew-Along ~ Reindeer Swirls

It was nice to see my first ornament pattern for this year’s Merry Christmas Sew-Along in the #3 spot on the list! I really had fun stitching those swirly antlers. : )

It was also nice to see the Merry Christmas Sew-Along page in the #2 spot on the list! Although, we had less than 10 people share ornaments in our Facebook group of over 500 people. That was such a low percentage of people participating that we are not sure if we’re going to have it again this year.

#1 ~ College Dorm Room Ideas For Guys ~ A Mom’s Perspective

This post has been the most popular post since I posted it. With over 23,000 views it’s more popular than anything I’ve ever posted! Number 2 on this list was just shy of 1,000 views, to give you a better idea of it’s popularity. It really picks up views when the fall semester for colleges begins.

Since my son has been in college over a year, I’m thinking about doing an update post to see how that does!

My free adult coloring pages were actually in between #3 & #4, but you can only access those if you’re signed up for my newsletter. I really need to add some new drawings!

Posts to Revise

There are some posts I’ve done in the past that I really should have put more effort into before posting. Some of them just need to be revised because the end product didn’t keep working after the post!

From Harvest Yellow to Hello ~ A Foot Stool Makeover Story {11-18-2016}

Although this footstool did look much better after it’s makeover, it’s not very comfortable to use! The skirt is kinda falling off as well. I want to add more cushion to it & find something better for the sides.

Father’s Day Templates {6-15-2016}

The templates in this post were made from mini quilts I made for some of my students one year. That was before I was a blogger, so I had no pictures. I spent so much time figuring out how to upload the templates I ran out of time to sew up more mini quilts. Instead, I made this kind of lame paper version….

I want to make the mini quilts again & redeem myself {hopefully}!

How to Make Old Prints & Junk Mail Into Handmade Paper {3-8-2017}

This post wasn’t too bad, I just want to do one with only recycled print paper. It gives you a totally different look!

Homemade Marshmallow Peeps ~ The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly {4-17-2017}

I posted this as a “fail” kind of post because my Star Wars peeps looked awful.

I’d like to give it another go & see if I can do better! : )

Paper Beads and Strips {6-13-2016}

I don’t think I did too bad with this post, but I’d like to do some with different papers. It’s just a fun way to recycle old papers or scrapbook leftovers.

Cardboard Tube into Storage Rack {1-23-2017}

I made this thinking it was going to solve my marker storage dilemma, but it did not! The glue I used to hold it together did not work out & I feel like I need to try again on this one as well.

Organizing Paper On Rolls {6-29-2016}

This seemed like a good idea at the time, but the curtain rods did not stay put when rolling off the paper. I have some big plans for this drafting table & I’m hoping to revisit this before the end of the year!

I hope y’all enjoyed my little stroll through my blog timeline! Have a great weekend! : )

2 Comments on Top Ten Posts of 2018 ~ What Did Y’all Like?

  1. Hi, Kristie. Great blog! I’ve just recently started to have analytics done and they are interesting! I just wanted to give you an idea that might work for your paper rolls. I have used dowels the size of shower curtain rods and installed the wall holders. One has no slot and the other end has a slot for removing the rod. If the slot is positioned where the rod would not have a tendency to jump out when unrolling the paper, that might work for you. I don’t have much luck with tension rods unless I am only putting up sheer curtains with little weight and aren’t going to be touched.

    Here is to a great 2019! Stitcher

    • Thank you Paula! That is a great idea & I will be sure to keep that in mind when I get ready to makeover my drafting table. Something more heavy duty is definitely needed! I hope you have a great 2019 too! 🙂
